Debra Glanz
Debra Glanz is a paper designer and paper artist. After graduating from Oregon State University in 1978, Debra began her career as a working artist in textiles, producing weavings and sculptural felted pieces. A chance bookbinding class in 1983 changed her medium forever. Woven rugs and table linens were replaced with hand bound journals, photo albums, boxes and frames.
An avowed “function freak,” Debra now produces boxes constructed of paper, board, and any other material that strikes her fancy. Her boxes are available in a variety of evolving styles and are meant to be used as containers for any treasures that need a special place to rest. They are often used as gift boxes for jewelry, chocolates, poetry, promises, and—on at least one occasion—a live frog.
One special note: In all of her pieces, Debra uses at least one of her own original paper designs. These papers are sold in many art supply and specialty stores throughout the country.
